Govt support for businesses processing customs declarations
HMRC extends customs grant funding deadline for SMEs
February 2020
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has extended the deadline for businesses to apply for customs support funding to 31 January 2021
If your businesses completes customs declarations for your own or other businesses then you may be eligible.
As well as supporting recruitment and improved IT capability, the money can also be used for training on how to submit customs declarations.
Businesses can find out how to apply for grants on GOV.UK.
On average it takes just 2-3 weeks for most applications to be approved.
From 1 January 2021, the way businesses trade will change, and they’ll need to prepare for life outside the EU, including new customs arrangements. For example, businesses will need to make customs declarations to import and export goods between Great Britain (GB) and the EU once the UK is outside of the EU’s customs territory. If you use an agent or third party then you should not need to make any changes internally.
