LED carriageway lighting - completed
September 2020
Rainham Steel, developers of the new Avocet Business Park (formerly Denver Industrial Park), applied to the BID to assist with funding of a low carbon, LED carriageway lighting scheme.
The lighting system is complete and will help improve security and benefit all businesss when the site is fully developed.
As previously reported, LED lighting has several advantages and it is our intention to support as many projects as possible that bring environmental benefits and reduce the BID's carbon footprint.
LED Lighting provides a number of benefits, with overall reduction in carbon footprint:
ENERGY EFFICIENCY – can save up to 80% electricity consumption.
REDUCED LIGHT POLLUTION – LEDs provide directional, focussed lighting and so help reduce unwanted scattered light in the environment
LONGER LASTING - LED lights have a rated life of 30,000 to 50,000 hours which is many folds greater than the conventional counterparts. This longer life span reduces the need of bulb replacement after every few months, thereby reducing the need to dispose-off the old ones into the landfills.
REDUCED NOISE POLLUTION - Unlike other lighting technologies, LED lights do not generate any vibration or annoying humming noise
DURABILITY – Their solid state technology means they are completely sealed and so highly resistant to vibrations, impact and harsh weather conditions.
NON-TOXIC - LED lights are free of chemicals that can be hazardous for environment or public health.
